Cagynol, a new-generation medicinal product for thrush, is effective and convenient to use.
  • Cagynol 300 mg ovule. Each ovule contains 300 mg of sertaconazole nitrate.

A white or whitish torpedo-shaped ovule. Each ovule is 3 cm long and 1.3 cm wide.

An ovule is for the local treatment of the fungal Candida infection (Thrush).
Cagynol is indicated for adults from the age of 18 year-old.

  • One ovule provides a single dose in evening before going to bed, for a single use, to be inserted into a vagina, preferably at bedtime and lying down, insert one ovule directly into the vagina. Treatment duration – a single dose. The maximum single dose is one ovule (300 mg of sertaconazole). If clinical signs persist, the second ovule should be used after a 7-day interval.

  • Vaginal use only. Simultaneous use of tampons and/or intravaginal showers is contraindicated. In the case of infection of the labia or adjacent areas, local treatment using the appropriate pharmaceutical form (vaginal cream) is required. Local therapy is also required for a sexual partner if symptoms such as itching, inflammation etc., are present. Treatment can be applied during periods but external hygiene pads should replace tampon use.

  • Hypersensitivity to imidazole class antifungals or to any of these excipients. Use of latex condoms or diaphragms.

  • If candidiasis has been confirmed, the ecological factors creating the conditions and facilitating the development of fungal infection should be pursued. To prevent relapses, it is vital to consider possible triggering factors during diagnosis and treatment. It is also recommended that concomitant treatment of the whole infection focus, needs to investigate possible causative agents and/or any partner involvement. Precautions for use. In the case of local intolerance or allergic reaction, the treatment should be discontinued. The use of acidic pH-soap is not recommended.

  • Animal studies did not reveal any teratogenic effect. Currently there are no clinically significant data regarding the potential teratogenic or embryotoxic effect of sertaconazole administered during pregnancy. Therefore, considering administration method of the medicine (a single dose) and the absence of the systemic exposure, sertaconazole use during pregnancy should only be considered if absolutely necessary.
